Adventist HealthCare Hosts Love Your Heart Event

Washington, D.C.-area Shady Grove and Washington Adventist hospitals, in partnership with WTOP radio, presented the Love Your Heart Expo to educate the community about heart health. The event, held at the White Flint Mall in Rockville, Md., featured WTOP’s “Man About Town” Bob Madigan, as well as free heart health screenings with onsite results and personal health counseling sessions. Nearly 170 people received free screenings. Celebrity chef Todd Gray, from Equinox Restaurant, and Francois Dionot, chef and founder of L’Academie de Cuisine Cooking School, demonstrated health recipes and cooking tips.

In addition, cardiologists and other medical experts from the hospitals offered information and answered questions about heart health. Michael Castine, interventional cardiologist at Shady Grove, presented “Heart Health Prevention, Symptoms and Risk Factors.” Maureen Fennell, a cardiologist at Washington Adventist Hospital (WAH), presented a discussion on women’s heart health. Jamie Futterman, a registered dietitian and outpatient diabetes educator at WAH, presented “Eating Healthy in a Mall.”
