How We Serve

Adventist-laymen’s Services and Industries (ASI) casts a vision that helps lay people see themselves as active participants in the Gospel Commission. The mission is to inspire and train professionals and private sector business people to integrate their vocations with the gospel and ministry. Thus the motto “Sharing Christ in the Marketplace.” Committed members are involved in many endeavors which support the global mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

From its inception in 1947 in Grand Rapids, Mich., ASI members have recognized that their talents are given them by God. The membership totals nearly 1,000 and includes men and women from businesses, professions, and supporting ministries, all working together to “tell the world.” ASI affords a unique opportunity for fellowship and support—local rallies, chapter meetings, and the annual convention where experiences are shared and spirits raised by testimonies from ordinary people who witness in powerful ways as they reach people for Christ.

ASI has been at the forefront of evangelistic efforts, including the Youth for Jesus program and the Youth Evangelism Initiative. ASI is also project-oriented with some 40 ventures supported each year by the convention offering; and in the development of programs such as the New Beginnings DVD series which has taken the story of Jesus to all corners of the world, Sow 1 Billion, and the Ellen White Internet Book Project.

For many, the annual international convention is the highlight of the year. ASI celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2007.

Look for additional information about ASI, its history, vision, and full membership details on the web at www.asiministries.org.

About the Columbia Union Chapter

The Columbia Union has an active chapter of ASI (CUASI). They host a spring chapter meeting each year where members network and share ideas, discuss how to share Christ in their respective marketplaces, and attend to chapter business.
