Ohio Conference

In May 1863, the Ohio Conference of Seventh-day Adventists was formed, shortly after the denomination’s official organization. Today, there are 87 congregations and nearly 11,500 members. The growing diversity of the conference is typified by Cincinnati’s Clifton church, where people from 27 ethnic backgrounds worship. There are 16 elementary schools across the state, and two senior academies—Mount Vernon Academy, a coed boarding school, and Spring Valley Academy, a day program for Dayton-area students.

Community service continues to be high a priority for Ohio members, who run eight Adventist Community Services centers across the state. The largest is Dayton’s Good Neighbor House that offers a dental clinic, furniture, educational classes, and quilts handmade by church members. The conference also offers a free Christian concert series for the community that has attracted thousands. Camp Mohaven, a 640-acre facility in Danville, Ohio, attracts over 500 campers each summer for a variety of weeklong summer camp programs.
