About Us

Columbia Union Conference

The Columbia Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists was established in 1907 to coordinate the Church’s work in the Mid-Atlantic states of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia. Today 145,000 members worship in more than 850 diverse congregations within eight local conferences. We support these conferences administratively as well as two healthcare networks with 14 hospitals, 101 elementary and secondary schools, a liberal arts university, a health sciences college, more than a dozen community services centers, eight camps, five book and health food stores and a radio station, WGTS 91.9 FM, which draws 650,000 listeners a week. Each year we sponsor dozens of programs and projects that help to alleviate human suffering—locally and globally—and provide healing and hope. As part of the larger, worldwide Adventist family of 21 million believers, we strive daily to develop a closer relationship with Jesus Christ, to become more like Him, and to serve others as He did. The heart of our mission is to help others realize the hope and wholeness found in experiencing a personal relationship with a living God and loving Savior, and to nurture them in preparation for His soon return.

To keep members informed about the work of churches, conferences, schools, healthcare organizations and ministries within the Columbia Union, we publish the Visitor, a monthly news magazine; sponsor a news website; distribute email news updates; and maintain social media pages—Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
