Adventists at VT Gather for Prayer

“In the wake of the massacre that killed 33 people (including the gunman) and shook the campus of Virginia Tech Monday, a group of Adventists gathered at the duck pond on campus to pray for those affected and thank God for His protection. The prayer meeting was organized by Friends Adventist Christian Fellowship, an official campus ministry led by Sylvia Grove. Students from Virginia Tech, Radford University, and New River Community College, as well as members and pastors from Adventist churches in the Blacksburg, Va., area participated. This photo was taken by Christopher Rawlins and captures the spirit of those in attendance.

This Sabbath, Columbia Union president Dave Weigley is asking churches across the Columbia Union to set aside a special time of prayer for the families who are experiencing devastating loss at this time. “This is an unprecedented event with so much hurt. Seventh-day Adventist Churches in this region should find ways to reach out to VT and the all the hurting people there,” he said.
