Sixty ladies from across the Columbia Union territory—Virginia, Maryland, District of Columbia, Pennsylvania, and Ohio—and from as far away as Georgia recently converged in Baltimore for the first Sisters of Serenity (SOS) Conference. The prayerfully planned, two-day event, held at Allegheny East Conference’s Miracle Temple, was intended to recharge and connect sisters with Christ and each other.

Sisters of Serenity are women from various denominations with a desire to be used by God to bring other women to Christ in order to be set free. “If the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed" (John 8:36). SOS’s mission is to help women experience Christ and His unique purpose for their lives.

“We do this by providing an atmosphere of tranquility, solace, and friendship through the bonds of sisterhood,” says SOS president and conference organizer Louvenia Anderson, a member of Miracle Temple. “Our goal is to continue to be used by God as a vessel to bring all Christian women closer to God.”

With so many demands on a woman’s time, it’s not always easy for them to find moments of peace and tranquility or the freedom to just focus on spiritual needs. Many women today are in constant need of reassurance and empowerment. Topics covered at the conference included “Cover Girl (What are You Covering Up?),” “Be Careful What You Pray For,” “Secret of Tears,” and “Let Go & Let God.”

“What’s so unique about these women is that they are all God-fearing and seeking God’s face,” adds Anderson. “They are women from different denominations who all have a desire for other women to experience Christ in order to be set free.”

“I am so grateful, honored, and blessed to have been invited to such an event,” commented one attendee. She added, “I honestly can't stop talking about it, and I have personally invited five people already for next year.”

Another attendee added, “I have never attended a women's conference that actually touched on each one of my situations. Every speaker kept me interested and focused, and also made me realize with God first in my life, anything is possible.”

The conference was so well received, that the organization has decided to let the blessings continue through monthly, toll-free “Fire Side Chat” phone conferences. Below is a list of upcoming phone conference dates, open to any Christian woman who wants participate:
