Nearly 300 Adventist HealthCare Physicians Included in Magazine Top List

By Beth Michaels

Adventist HealthCare (AHC), based in Rockville, Md., is very pleased that nearly 300 of the physicians in their network were included in the 2008 “Top Doctors” list, published by Washingtonian magazine. The AHC physicians on the lsit are all located at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital (SGAH) in Rockville or Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park, Md.

According to the Washingtonian, their list of Washington/Baltimore top doctors is created through a questionnaire given to randomly selected area physicians. Those polled are asked which doctors they would send members of their family to in each of the 36 medical specialties. Of the 6,500 questionnaires sent out this year, more than 1,250 were returned. One of the physicians on the list, for a second time, is John Melnick, MD (pictured), a member of Potomac Conference’s Sligo church in Takoma Park, Md. Melnick, an internal medicine physician, has been working at SGAH since 1979.

Melnick appreciates making the list and says, “It’s kind of a joke around the hospital that if you make the list, the other doctors give you a pat on the back. I also have patients who say they saw my name in the magazine.”

“Delivering high-quality, compassionate patient care starts with a team of dedicated caregivers. We are so blessed that the Adventist HealthCare team includes outstanding physicians at Washington Adventist and Shady Grove Adventist hospitals,” said William G. Robertson, AHC president and CEO.
