Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story to Air on TNT

By Karen Hayes

Over the years, many have come to know the phenomenal story of Ben Carson, MD. Dr. Carson, a member of Chesapeake Conference’s Spencerville church in Silver Spring, Md., is the gifted Adventist pediatric neurosurgeon known worldwide for some of the most successful, yet challenging surgeries ever performed.

Selected as one of America's Best Leaders in 2008 by U.S. News and World Report, Dr. Carson's story will be told to millions in February. The movie about his life, Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story, will air on TNT on February 7. Academy Award winning actor Cuba Gooding, Jr., will portray Dr. Carson in the film.

The movie tells the story of Dr. Carson, a surgeon and children's advocate, known for his work at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Maryland, and for his determination to instill in inner-city children the confidence and will to succeed that he lacked as a boy in Detroit. The movie is an amazing portrayal of his life.

In addition, the Carson Scholars Fund will present a special movie screening of Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story on Monday, February 2, at 7 p.m. in the Turner Auditorium at Johns Hopkins. For tickets and more information, visit the fund's website at carsonscholars.org.
