How We Serve

The Office of the Treasurer serves as a resource center for conferences and also as a liaison between the North American Division and the conferences as they relate to policy, procedures, and processes. Treasury also helps conferences in terms of their financial performance. We review and assess financial statements each month and guide them in financial and budgeting functions. When they are looking for personnel, we help facilitate the placement of financial personnel and treasurers. We also provide training.

In addition, the treasurer serves on a number of boards and committees and gives counsel to the leadership of the Union’s two healthcare systems. He oversees the work of the Union’s Information Technology Services and Plant Services departments as well as ASI.

About Seth T. Bardu

Seth T. Bardu has served as treasurer of the Columbia Union Conference since 2006.  He transferred from the Northeastern Conference in New York, where he served as treasurer from November 2002 to December 2005.

Seth began his service in South Central Conference (Tenn.) initially as an accountant-auditor and omptroller and then as treasurer from 1993 to 2001. He also worked briefly for the Adventist Health System and Southern Union Conference.

Seth was born in Monrovia, Liberia.  He attended high school in Accra, Ghana (Western Africa).  He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Oakwood University (Ala.) and an MBA from Andrews University (Mich.).

He is married to the former Teresa Chapman of St. Louis, Mo. They have two children--Jessica and Godfrey. Seth is also a brother to five sisters, all of whom reside in Pennsylvania.

Seth has almost 30 years experience in finance-related denominational service in the Seventh-day Adventist Church and is an ordained minister. Seth wants to do whatever he can to help our church accomplish its mission so we can "finish the work of the gospel and go to our Heavenly home."
