Story by William Rodriguez

High temperatures and thunderstorms could not keep about 250 people, including visitors, from attending the Ohio Conference’s Annual Hispanic Family Retreat, where they enjoyed nature, fellowship, good food and a spiritual blessing. It was held at Camp Mohaven in Danville.
Guest speaker, Pastor Willy Benzaquen and his wife, Ana Maria, presented a seminar titled “The Adventist Family and the End Times.” They emphasized the importance of being strong and united as family during these times because “… our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” (Eph. 6:12, NIV).
Pastor Benzaquen also spoke to the young people during the Sabbath School hour while Abner Trivino shared the Sabbath School lesson with the adults. In the afternoon, there was a special program just for kids where they learned about birds, made bird origami (pictured below) and even made a “bird feeder” to take home. Local singer, Sofonias Sargento, from the Hispanic church group in Willard, Ohio, ended the evening with a concert.
