The Chesapeake Conference Executive Committee elected Kleyton Feitosa conference executive secretary at its October 18 meeting. Feitosa has accepted the call to serve in this capacity, and will begin to transition to the new post immediately. The position opened when Rick Remmers became conference president this past August.

“After a time of prayer, the committee considered several candidates who could serve as executive secretary,” said Remmers. “The discussion revealed a number of talents that Kleyton Feitosa would bring to the position, and the committee expressed strong support for his candidacy. Elder Feitosa has demonstrated a keen ability to work cross-culturally, and he has a passion for sharing the gospel and helping churches experience growth. He has excellent interpersonal skills and pays close attention to detail, as well, and will bring many assets to the officer group.”

Feitosa served for five years as pastor of the Waldorf (Md.) church before coming to the conference office in 2009 as director of Ministries Development and evangelism coordinator. His 15-plus years in ministry includes working as a senior, associate and youth pastor, as well as a teacher and school chaplain in Brazil and the United States.

“I am humbled by the invitation and grateful for the opportunity to serve in this capacity,” Feitosa said. “I look forward to serving the great people of Chesapeake, doing everything I can to advance the kingdom of God in this territory.”

A native of Brazil, Feitosa enjoys ministering to different cultures and is fluent in Portuguese, English and Spanish. He holds a bachelor’s degree in theology, a master’s degree in religion with an emphasis in mission and ministry studies from Andrews University (Mich.), and is currently finishing requirements for a Doctor of Ministry degree in evangelism and church growth.

Feitosa is married to Delma (Garcia) Feitosa, who is an educator and counselor, but currently a full-time Mom. The couple has two boys, Derek, 7, and Malton, 5.
