The planning committee of the 39th Pastoral Evangelism and Leadership Conference (PELC) recently recognized Lawrance E. Martin, Allegheny East Conference’s (AEC) vice president for finance, for his contribution to the regional work of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Each year the committee selects individuals they feel have made a major impact in fortifying the mission of the Church. Held at the Oakwood University church (Ala.), Jesse Wilson, PELC coordinator, shares that Martin’s name was a quick and unanimous decision.

Martin has served in AEC’s Treasury Department for close to 40 years, operating as assistant treasurer, undertreasurer, conference treasurer and currently vice president for finance and chief finance officer. He previously served as the assistant treasurer of the Lake Region Conference (Ill.). He is also noted for his contribution to the formation of the regional conference retirement fund program, where he once served as chairman. “It is an honor to be recognized, but all I can say is ‘God is good!’” Martin declared.
