Allegheny East

Established in 1945 to meet the growing needs of members in the historically African-American congregations of the Mid-Atlantic United States, leaders and pastors in the Allegheny East Conference of Seventh-day Adventists oversee the work of 173 congregations with more than 32,000 members in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. They operate 11 elementary schools, two junior high schools, and one historically African-American senior high school, Pine Forge Academy.

A strong leader in community service initiatives, the conference operates four full-service Adventist Community Services centers and a renowned housing project in Coatesville, Pa. Members in this conference also place significant emphasis on outreach to prisoners and their families, and spiritual growth retreats for women. The Allegheny East Conference also sponsors a summer fitness camp program designed to teach healthy lifestyle principles, an Adventist Book Center which offers religious literature and vegetarian food, and a popular youth summer camp program for children ages 10-15.
