Recently, students, staff and parents from Mountain View Conference’s (MVC) Parkersburg Academy (W.Va.), Summersville Adventist School (W.Va.) and Highland Adventist School in Elkins, W.Va., participated in a mission trip to Puerto Rico.The dual purpose of the trip was to help a local church in reaching its community and provide the students with an educational experience. 

The mission group spent most of their 10-day trip providing services in the city of Arecibo. The local church had identified three projects that needed help in the community to share God’s love.

Delegates to the Mountain View Conference (MTV) Executive Committee recently elected Walter Cardenas to serve as executive secretary, a position formerly held by Victor Zill, conference treasurer. 

“Pastor Cardenas is a servant leader who is already highly respected by our entire team, both in the office and by our pastors and teachers,” states Tim Bailey, conference president. “His skills and love for our people make him a logical choice to serve our Lord and our constituents. We are very pleased that he has accepted this new role in our conference.”

In late 2025, a mission team from the Mountain View Conference (MVC) and the Columbia Union Conference participated in an overseas medical and evangelistic outreach that left a lasting impact on both the community they served and the team members themselves.

“The purpose of this retreat,” states Tim Bailey, MVC president, “is to get input from leaders in our conference and to involve them in strategic plans for our future growth.”
