With a total of 759 students enrolled for fall semester, Kettering College in Dayton, Ohio, has increased its opening enrollment for the 2016 school year by 3.8 percent.

This increase in enrollment reverses a three-year trend of declining enrollment as well as reversing a five-year decline in total credit hours taken by full time students. The number of full time enrolled students is the highest it has been since fall of 2013.

 According to the school’s final opening report, 452 full-time and 307 part-time (three-quarter time or less) students had registered for fall classes, for an overall count that was 27 more than fall 2015.

Members of seven churches in northeastern Ohio, along with the Ohio Conference, have been on a journey of faith this year. The July/August 2016 issue of the Visitor shared how educational evangelism grew a rural school in Clarksfield. In the last few months, they have outgrown their building. Thus, a united body—including students, parents, teachers, pastors, members and conference leaders—prayed earnestly for a new school.

Forty-five people decided to surrender their lives to Jesus in a baptismal ceremony held at the conclusion of what Pastor Pedro Simpson calls a revolutionary campaign named 120 Days of Power.

Pedro Simpson, district pastor and Hispanic Ministries coordinator for the Ohio Conference, and Spanish District of Cleveland leaders led members on a spiritual and missionary journey which included 40 days of prayer, followed by 40 days of witnessing and another 40 days of preaching intended to gain 40 new souls for the kingdom of Heaven.

Diana, a Beckley, W.Va., resident, joined the line at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center in Beckley at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, waiting for dental service. “I’m not afraid of the drill; I’m afraid of the bill,” she says, adding that she hadn’t been to a dentist in six years. "I can't afford dental care."

More than 1,100 patients, many with similar stories to Diana, have been treated at the Your Best Pathway to Health pop-up clinic since it opened Wednesday. As of publishing time, dental volunteers treated 165 people, other volunteer volunteers performed 18 surgeries, 131 HIV tests, performed 420 eye exams, fitted 299 pair of glasses, and provided 117 haircuts and provided 2,205 lunches to volunteers and patients.

Kettering Adventist HealthCare is looking for volunteers to help care for patients at its free community health clinic on Sunday, September 4 and Monday, September 5 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Dayton Convention Center, 22 E. 5th Street in downtown Dayton.

The clinic is in partnership with Adventist Medical Evangelism Network (AMEN), a medical mission organization that hosts free clinics through the United States.

The clinic is looking for medical volunteers to help provide services that include general exams, women’s health services, eye exams, and dental care. It is especially in need of optometrists and dentists. Medical volunteers must have a current, valid professional license.
